Book: Introduction to System Analysis and Design.

Author: Igor  Hawryzkiewycz

Reference No. T 57.6 H38 199la

Chapter:  Chapter  8

This chapter describes methods used for process descriptions. It began by describing why precise process specifications are necessary and continued by presenting some of the main description methods used in structured systems analysis.

The first method was structured English. This is a mixture of natural language prose and key words used to define logic. Structured English thus endeavors to get the better of two worlds – program logic to define precision and natural language to get the convenience of the spoken word.

The chapter describes another method that is often used to describe processes: decision tables. Decision tables are used where a large number of conditions must be tested to select one of many possible actions.
