Tim Brady

First Non- Founding Employee,

Yahoo

          Two Stanford graduate students, jerry Yang and David Filo founded yahoo. It was begun in 1994. Tim Brady is a friend of Yang, and he is the one who is responsible for the success of yahoo.

          Jerry and Tim met when they were both undergraduate students at Stanford. They both studied electrical engineering. Then Tim goes to Japan to work, while Jerry was in Kyoto because he’s studying. They both went back to finish their studies but they’ do have communications.

          Jerry called up to Tim and he says that he and his trailer mate are starting doing something and he want Tim to look on it. It was at the end of 1994 and they are still doing it. Then Jerry and Dave add categories and as go on they are adding websites on their lists. Some students found it out and want them to add it to their list and people kept sending emails. That how they start their company.

          VC community recognized what they were doing and other people also recognized it as well. So they got a lot of call and they want them to join in their company. Some of these companies are Microsoft, LA times and AOL.

          After a few months they got their funding from Sequoia. Then they go to sell advertising and after 6 months they had a CEO in the personality of Tim koogle.

          Netscape was the only browser then, its job was to grow the Internet and sell servers. They taught yahoo was the best thing so they give links to yahoo. They hired an outside sales firm to help them in starting advertising. They put up graphics and yahoo was all text then. When Tim came in he hired Jeff mallet and Jeff also hired to employees to help him in product and business development and sales marketing.

          Yahoo is a bit cliché but people started it was awesome therefore they became successful.

          Brady was VP of production. He was the Editor of Yahoo site. Yahoo went to public in April 1996. It has been the most popular network of website in the world.

Things that I’ve learned:

I learned that friendship is a strong foundation of a good start up. Focusing is one thing that we should need to do for us to be able to perform the job very well. We should also have different kinds of ideas in our mind.
