Case study

Ann Winblad

Ann Winblad is the co founder of Open systems together with the three guys that he worked at Federal Reserve Bank.

After doing the Open System Ann Winblad co founded the Hummer Winblad Venture Partners that was founded in 1989 as the first venture capital fund to invest exclusively in software companies.

Winblad was being motivated when she feels of being empowered as a youth to achieve. She had these feeling of courage regarding the risks in continuing working on it.

One of the problems that this startup encountered is the difficulty in the pricing strategy and collecting money from people because the software that they were offering to people was new at that time.

People used their service because the product that they were offered is software that can be used as an accounting system in the computers.

The impact of their startup in the history of Internet was when another start up was made with the concept of using the software which the Hummer Winblad focused on.

The unique thing about this startup is that they started out of $500.

From my opinion it would be possible from a third world country to do this kind of start up, but it can only be possible if there are people like them who are willing to take the risks in doing these kinds of things.

Things that I learned:

From this start up I learned that we need to be brave enough in taking the risk of starting a company because it is a part of doing a start up.

I also learned that doing trail and error is not a bad thing sometimes it can help us in solving our problems.
