Craig Newmark
Founder, Craig’s list
Craig Newmark started an email list to publicize events in San Francisco. He started working with computer security and some other stuff but contributed much in evangelizing the internet.
With his intention of helping out other people he started sending out notices about cool events. It may have been 10 to 12 people, CC list, using pine, and that worked out pretty well. These were usually arts and technology events. They were calling it “Craig’s List”. They even suggested other kinds of things like jobs or stuff for sale.
But what us Craig’s List all about? It is all about people giving suggestion to him and then figuring out what seemed to make sense, what a lot of people were asking for and then he’ll does it.
After failing in trying to run Craig List a non profit Craig was approached by a couple telling him “hey this isn’t working, make it real.
It took him a couple of months to decide, tried out to make “Craig’s List” a real company.
As a starter, Craig’s List encountered difficulties, making up some mistakes yet finding out solutions to cope up with it. One solution would have been hiring Buck master.
In order to regulate the community with the site they’ve come out with the idea of flagging and yes, it did worked! It works great in all sort of ways, and it also an expression of our values. Mutual trust dedicated to his mission of building a community on the internet, New Mark has held fast to his plan to Craig list as free as possible. It operates cheaply let users do much of the work.
Though eBay purchased a 25 percent stake in the company from a former Craig’s list
Employee in 2004, Craig’s List remains a privately held company. It continues to expand, and now has sites for ever 300 cities worldwide.
Learning’s:
I’ve learned that working hard will venture to a great success. Success is a matter of approaching and helping out other people. Craig New Mark made Craig’s List for the community and its people, and it will continue to grow because of people.
