Joshua Schacthter

Founder of del.icio.us

It was 1998 when Joshua created a web sited which is called Memepooloit was a blog. They put a link in it where it send email and give links.

By 2001 he had a text file with 20000 links. He started putting notes and URL. After it he built the next generation of text tile which is called Maxway.

In 2003 he started work on del.ico.us which is a multiplayer version. It was released by December 2003 and he was still working on it. He started to get on press and a lot of users.

Del.icio.us succeeds because it was not a venture and its bout building a product.

Union Square was their VC, and they introduce him to Albert Wenger, he’s the one who dealt with fire fox toolbar.

Scaling is one of the technical problem they had Tagging.

People ask for features, they want something so he tries to dig the root of cause on it.

Schachter work on del.icio.us and other projects. After it release it had 30000 users.

In 2005 he left his job to found del.icio.us and focus on it full time and he got $1 million in funding.

Yahoo acquired del.icio.us.

Three things I have learned

I learned that Joshua Schachter started the collaborative book marking site which is called del.icio.us in 2003.The company of Del.icio.us is web service for sharing, storing and discovering web bookmarks.
