Determining Feasibility and Managing Analysis and Design Activities

            Project fundamentals considered initiating projects, determining projects feasibility, scheduling projects and planning and then managing activities and team members for productivity are important capabilities for system analysts.

            Systems projects with problems or opportunities for improvement with a business that came up with organization that adopts to change. Fundamental changes are occurring as business originates its enterprises and more their operations to the Internet are results of increasing of popularity of e-commerce.  Changes occur in legal environment in the industry require system solution. When a project is suggested, the system analysts work quickly with decision maker to determine if it’s a feasible. Then if project is approved then the project activities are scheduled through the use of tools diagram that a project can be completed on time. Grant chart and Program Evaluation and Review Techniques (PERT) are the tools that can be use in project activities.

            In project Initiation business people would suggest project that is to experience problems that lend to system solution and recognizing opportunity when new system occur. These situation may arise as adaptation and copes with evolutionary change.

            Good manager recognize problem and confront someone in business industry to keep it in functioning. One way of conceptualizing problem is to think on the situations, feedback which gives information.

            Services of system analysts are not being met because of the problem occurring but the system analysts could help when it comes to excessive errors and work performance that are not good. Another problem is when employee does not meet the performance goals. Feedback is important and can be help in achieving goals.

            In selecting projects the one who is selecting it must clear their mind for a project that address to a problem that could bring improvement in it. A project must be examined from a system perspective considering the change to the organization.

            There are five criteria for project selection:

  1. Backing from management
  2. Appropriate timing of project commitment
  3. Improving of attainment of organizational goals
  4. Practical resource for the system analyst and organizations
  5. Worthy project
