Chapter 3
Quote: “Just as there are two generally recognized ways of reasoning inductive and deductive- there are two similar ways of organizing your interviews. A third way combines both inductive and deductive patterns.
Arranging Question in a logical Sequence
Pyramid structure is used for interviewing which starts with a specific question to general questions. It is usually visualize as having a pyramid shape. In this kind of interview, the one who conduct the interview start the interview with a close question then it expands to an open ended question.
A pyramid structure is used for the interviewee to cope with the topics. Sequencing is useful in ending the interview.
Funnel structure is usually start with a general question and end with a specific question. In this interview the interviewer use a deductive approach, which is using open-ended question, then ends with a close type question. In structuring the question the interviewer can use a funnel shape.
In using this kind of interview it became useful when the interviewee feels emotional about the topic. Organization of the interview is one of the benefits of funnel structure
Diamond Structure starts and end with a specific question. It is also a combination of pyramid and funnel structure. This interview begins with closed question to have a process in the interview; in the middle the interviewer narrowed the question and then end with a specific question.
