System Analysis and Design Concepts

Information Systems are develop for different parts depending on the area needed.

First, Transaction Processing Systems (TPS), the transactions are computerized information systems that were created to process large amounts of data such as payroll transaction and inventory transaction. This system helps to monitor the daily operation of a company. Second, Office Automation System (OAS) and Knowledge Work Systems (KWS), in OAS, it supports data workers, it includes Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Desktop Publishing, Electronic Scheduling, Communication through Voicemail, E-mail, and Video Conferencing. KWS, supports the professional workers, it helps to create a new knowledge and contribute to their organization. Third, Management Information Systems (MIS), it is computerized information system. It output information that is used in decision making. Fourth, Decision Support System (DSS), a high level class of a computerized information system. It leaves from traditional management information system. Though, emphasizes the support of decision making in all phases. Fifth, Expert System and Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI is overarching field for expert systems. There are two revenues of research AI. First, understanding natural language. Second, analyzing the ability to reason through a problem. Expert Systems also called as knowledge-based system. It selects the best solution to a problem. the basic components of an Expert System are knowledge base, inference engine connecting system which need expert knowledge. Sixth, Group Decision Support System (GDSS), it is use to make semi structured or unstructured decisions. It is being use in special room. It is intended to solve a problem to a group that give various options. It reduces problems such as behavioral problem, fears in expressing his/her point of view. Seventh, Executive Support System (ESS), it helps to organize interactions with external environment, it rely on information given by TPS and MIS. It addresses to the users the problem by creating an environment which is conductive to think. Eight, Need for System Analysis and Design, it give a big impact to the business industry because it give data input, transformation of data, data storage. It is used to analyze, design, implement improvements to a business. The improper installation of a system without a proper planning will leads to a disappointments. Lastly, the End-User, it is someone who interacts to information system through a system project.
