Quote (Chapter VI):  In systems analysis it is focus exclusively on logical process modeling as part of business requirements analysis.

Application process model is a process model for a system.  Logical models have focus on process and a system owner/user perspective.  They are typically constructed as deliverables of the study and definition phases of a project.  While logical process models are not concerned with for  implementation details or technology, it may be constructed from existing software, which is physical process model of a current system.

Ø      Analyst will build a physical process model of current system which is a logical model current system and logical model of the target system.

Ø      Modern structured analysis strategies focus on logical model of the target system w/c is being developed.

Ø      Event partitioning is organizing a commonsense strategy.  It also factors a system into subsystems based on business events and responses to the event.

Strategies for event driven process modeling:

1.       System context diagram is constructed to establish initial project scope.

2.      Functional decomposition diagram it is drawn to partition the system into logical subsystems and functions.

3.      Event- response list is compiled to identify and confirm the business events to which the system must provide a response.

4.      Event handler it is added to decomposition diagram for each event.  It also serves as outline for system

5.      Event diagram – it is constructed validated for each event.

6.      System diagram constructed by merging event diagrams.

7.      Primitive diagram constructed for each event process.
